New facilities at MacKillop

Three new facilities

St Mary MacKillop College has added to its amazing facilities with the recent completion of three building and refurbishment projects across both campuses.

Handover of the Penola Administration Centre and Moira Najdecki Theatre took place just before the holidays, while regular use of the Chapel of St Peter will commence after finishing touches to the building were applied during the remote learning phase earlier this year.

The Penola Administration Centre, which has transformed the front of our Senior Campus, will house our Front Office, Student Reception, meeting rooms, a new sick bay, offices for Executive staff, staff kitchen, quiet room, and a boardroom. The layout of the building has connected the entrance of our St Peter’s Campus with the quadrangle and will provide staff, students, and visitors with a large amount of space both internally and in the surrounding alfresco areas.

The Chapel of St Peter, also at the St Peter’s Campus, began hosting liturgies at the end of Term 2 and has provided senior students with a beautiful prayer and reflection space that matches the quality of the award-winning Chapel of St Anthony at the Padua Campus.

On the Padua Campus, the College community will enjoy the use of the fully-refurbished theatrette, which will be named the Moira Najdecki Theatre, recognising the contribution of MacKillop’s second Principal. The new theatre will have more comfortable seating, respectful disability facilities, a fully-sprung dance floor, expert light and sound technology, a retractable stage and orchestra pit, and larger wings with enhanced storage.

The provision of high-quality facilities to support the delivery of excellent teaching and learning has long been a priority for MacKillop, and we congratulate the Business Manager, Louise Davidson, for the work she has done in this area.

The College now looks forward to improvements to our PE facilities on both campuses, as well as the performing arts facilities at the St Peter’s Campus.

Acknowledgement of Country

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”

With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
