Mr Lee gets five more years

St Mary MacKillop College will continue to flourish under the leadership of Mr Michael Lee after he was reappointed as Principal of MacKillop from the start of the 2019 school year.

The Director of Catholic Education, Mr Ross Fox, announced Mr Lee's reappointment today through an email to the staff and community of the College.

Mr Lee's contract was set to expire at the end of the 2018 but, following a panel selection process by Catholic Education, has now been renewed until 2023.

Mr Lee said he was 'relieved' by the news of his reappointment.

"This is a source of relief and excitement for me," Mr Lee said.

"The next five years of education in general and MacKillop in particular will not be free of challenge. There is cause for great hope and I look forward to placing mine in the Vision of the College and the strength and diversity of our community.

"There is much goodwill, talent and energy to bring to our future here at MacKillop."

Mr Fox praised Mr Lee's contribution to MacKillop and congratulated him on his reappointment.

"I am pleased to announce that following a panel selection process, Mr Michael Lee has been reappointed as Principal of St Mary MacKillop College, Tuggeranong from the start of the 2019 school year," Mr Fox said.

"I congratulate Michael on his appointment and wish him every continued success as he undertakes this role."

Mr Lee has held leadership roles within the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn since 1999, when he joined as the Principal of Mount Carmel School, Yass. Mr Lee also held the position of Principal at Hennessy Catholic College, Young from 2003 until 2007, before becoming Principal of MacKillop in 2008. Prior to 1999, Mr Lee gave leadership service in a variety of schools beyond our Archdiocese.

Mr Lee holds the tertiary qualifications of Bachelor of Arts (Australian National University); Graduate Diploma of Education (Charles Sturt University, Bathurst); Graduate Diploma of Religious Education (Catholic Studies) (Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga); Masters of Education (Australian Catholic University).

The College wishes Mr Lee the best of luck as he aims to build on the success he has had at MacKillop. Congratulations, Mr Lee!
