Interested in learning an instrument?
The MacKillop Music Academy commenced in 2023 and gives students in Years 5 and 6 at a Catholic primary school the opportunity to learn an orchestral string instrument or wind instrument one night per week during the school term.
The Academy is run by MacKillop music teachers and lessons take place at the College’s Padua Campus in Wanniassa. MacKillop students and private tutors support the students in the program.
Instrument hire is also available (if required) for the duration of enrolment in the MacKillop Music Academy. We have 12 instruments to choose from:
String Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass.
Wind Instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trombone, Trumpet, Euphonium, and Tuba.
The Academy operates as follows:
Fees for the program will be paid each term to cover tuition and instrument hire (if required).
Applications will be accepted before each school term. Applications received after the beginning of each term will be put on the list to commence at the beginning of the following term.
You can use the form below to register for the MacKillop Music Academy. We would ask that you only register for the program if your child can attend the sessions on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5.30pm.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop made the statement: “We are but travellers here, so while we are here we should do as much good as we can and live in peace with each other.”
With this in mind, the College respectfully acknowledges the Ngunnawal people who are the Traditional Custodians and First People of the land on which we gather each day. The College also pays its respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, and any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples living and working in the MacKillop community.
